How this game come to be
so this game was made for the zero word gamejam and was made in 2 days. while i have made some game in almost 2 day this game was the first ever game i ever made for public and also the first game i actually complete. of course this game was far from perfect the lack of pause button, no fullscreen function, and no music. but i can say that this was way more better then any incomplete project i done before.
in the prosses of making this i have more trouble on deciding what kind of game i will made to fit the theme. with a theme of regression there 2 kind of game i have in mind:
- a platformer with a human character that will become more old the more the game goes on this will of course make the character lose it ability slowly
- and of course this game, a shot em up game where you start with full array of weapon and slowly lose it as time goes on
it was a difficult choise because of my limited knowledge at the time only allow me to make a simple game. the platformer one was an interesting idea but i don't have the confident to be able to create it on 2 days. on the other hand the this game was more easy to make and don't use much time to make at all. so with the pressure at the time i choose to create Bird Vs Alien.
so i began to make asset for this game, about 5-6 hour was use just to make sprite and the rest to code this game, with limit knowledge on how to make a game i thought there will be many disaster that will come from my mess os a code but somehow it was quite stable. sure it wasn't the most good looking code that i have made but at the time it does the job well.
as a new jammer at the time the zero word gamejam really push me to think really hard as ussualy i cannot even complete a game even if it was made in more then 6 week. it really teach me to schedule my time more carefully.
